Rain, rain go away come again another day!

Brrrr! The cold, dark afternoons are beginning to draw in thick and fast as winter eagerly approaches us, and we all know that it’s not much fun being dragged around in the cold and rain. Stuck for ideas on how to keep the little one’s entertained this winter? Never fear, Findababysitter.com are here to give you some creative, exciting and fun filled activities for the whole family to get stuck in and enjoy! Whether it’s something as simple as reading a book, or completing a jigsaw puzzle…we’ve got something in mind for anyone and everyone!

Here are our Top 5 indoor winter activities:

1. Hide and Seek:

Who doesn’t enjoy a good old fashioned game of hide and seek? Our visual designer, Leo used to enjoy spending his rainy days playing hide and seek with his twin brother. Pro tip from Leo – hide under the duvet of an unmade bed! Total genius – thanks Leo!

2. Make your own aquarium:

This is a rather crafty suggestion from Tess in the Findababysitter.com office. Tess throughly enjoys arts and crafts (and she’s very good at it). Materials you’re going to need: an old shoe box, PVA glue, poster paints, ping pong balls, string, stickers and coloured tissue paper. It’s time to get crafty! Thanks for the suggestion, Tess!

3. Dressing up:

If you don’t have a dressing up box, it’s about time you did. It’s a great way to kick start your child’s visual imagination. Have a look around your local charity shops, you can pick up all sorts of interesting bits and bobs and create some fantastic outfits. Some of our favourites include, pirates, princesses, ballerina’s and dinosaurs!

4. Potato painting:

This really brings back a lot of childhood memories for me. Making shapes and stencils out of potato’s really was one of my favourite things to do on a cold, winter afternoon. The bigger the potato the better and get creative, you can cut out any shape you like! My particular favourites were hearts, stars and Christmas tree’s.

5. Make a sofa fort:

Findababysitter.com CEO, Tom used to love building sofa fort’s using as many sheets, cushions, pillow’s and mattresses as he could, he coupled this with making realistic machine gun sound effects and had an epic game of war! Awesome – thanks for the suggestion Tom!

From all at the Findababysitter.com team, we really hope that our ideas will get you all feeling a little more positive and creative this winter! Enjoy!
